Priyanka Chopra's father instigated his daughter's entry into the world of high-profile beauty contests when he sent pictures of her to the Femina Miss India pageant organization in 2000. Not only was she selected to compete in the contest, but she was ultimately crowned Miss India, allowing her the chance to compete on the international level. That same year, the then 18-year-old went on to win the Miss World title as well. She left college around this time to embark on a whole new successful career. (continued below)

Chopra first achieved fame in India as a beauty queen when she won the Femina Miss India title, and then hit the international stage as the winner of the Miss World pageant in 2000.
